Globalization has become a phenomenon that has determined
all aspects of human being. And in some cases it has changed human
being more than their mainstream of the historical perspectives.
People have to change their common behaviour to adapt to the new
perspective of global world with bordeless and timeless.
Information in the global world plays an important role in setting
up the tactic and strategy to anticipate competition in the future.
For the time being, it has reduced the role of the cultural values
in ruling the people behavior.
It should be understood that there is a paradox in the global world.
On the one side, there is a trend of disaggregation of the socio-political
power among the nations. But at the same time, on the other side,
there is a trend of aaggregation of the socio-economic power among
the nation. For that reason, the development process of a nation
cannot be based only on the territorial borders, but should be based
on the potency and distribution of the socio-economic resources
among the nations.
Kupang, Darwin and Dilli are three cities in the three countries
that have close boundaries among each other. In the global perspective,
it should be created an international relationship mechanism in
relation to the development among the three nations based on the
potency and distribution of the resources in the respective regions.
The idea of the triangular development model among Kupang, Darwin
and Dilli has been introduced to the Presiden of Republic of Indonesia,
-Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono- by the Chief Minister of Northern Territory,
Australia, Madam Clare Martin, on 8 of April 2005 in Indonesian
Consulate in Darwinm, NT, Australia.
In relation to the idea of developing an international relationship
mechanism that might be implemented in the document of Memorandum
of Understanding among the government of the three nations, the
Government of Kupang City will conduct an international seminar
that mightbe held in May 2006. The theme of the seminar is: "International
Seminar on Establishing and Developing a Triteral Relationship Format
Among Kupang-Darwin-Dilli in Tourism, Education and Economy".
The seminar is one of the collaboration programs between the government
of Kupang City and the University of Nusa Cendana that involves
many experts from Indonesia, Australia, and The Republic Democratic
of Timor Leste (RDTL). The Seminar will also be conducted as one
of the activities that will be implemented to commemorate the Kupang
City Anniversary in April 2006. |
